Main uses: Used in the production of polystyrene, synthetic rubber, ion exchange resins, etc.

Main uses:

Its important use is as a monomer for synthetic rubber and plastics, used to produce styrene-butadiene rubber, polystyrene, and polystyrene foam; it is also used in copolymerization with other monomers to manufacture various engineering plastics for different applications. Styrene, for example, is copolymerized with acrylonitrile and butadiene to produce ABS resin, which is widely used in various household appliances and industries. SAN, copolymerized with acrylonitrile, is an impact-resistant resin with a glossy finish. SBS, copolymerized with butadiene, is a thermoplastic rubber widely used as a modifier for polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene.

Styrene is mainly used to produce styrene-based resins and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). It is also a raw material for the production of ion exchange resins and pharmaceuticals. In addition, styrene is used in the pharmaceutical, dye, pesticide, and mineral processing industries.
