Chemical Properties:

Isobutyl acetate exhibits typical ester properties, including hydrolysis, alcoholysis, and ammonolysis; it undergoes addition reactions with Grignard reagents and alkyl lithium groups, and is catalytically hydrogenated and reduced by lithium aluminum hydride; it undergoes Claisen condensation reactions, either on its own or with other esters. Isobutyl acetate can be qualitatively detected using hydroxylamine hydrochloride (NH₂OH·HCl) and ferric chloride (FeCl₃). Other esters, acyl halides, and acid anhydrides can affect the test results.
