PUR 1916

  PUR 1916 is a reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive, a white solid; it has a moderate open time, high initial tack, and is not prone to bubbling, making it suitable for a variety of materials. After curing, it exhibits high adhesive strength and excellent water, temperature, cold, and solvent resistance.

Material Requirements

Board Material

· The board material must have a flat, clean surface, free of oil and dust.

Laminating Material

· The plastic film must have a good primer coating with a surface energy greater than 36 mN/m; HPL must be properly sanded.

Process Steps

Opening Inspection

· Before opening the drum and loading it into the machine, check its appearance for any abnormalities or skin formation. If skin is present, take appropriate measures.

Board Dust Removal

· Check the brush rollers and dust collector for proper functioning

Board Preheating

· If the workshop temperature is below 15℃, open the drying tunnel.

Equipment Temperature Setting

· The pressure plate and throat temperature should be around 125℃ to ensure timely glue supply; it should not be too high;

· The glue temperature in the glue tank should be 120-140℃. Check for significant temperature deviations along the length of the glue application roller;

· The glue surface temperature of the glue application roller should be 115-125℃.

Glue Application Amount

· Adjust the amount between 35-120 g/m² depending on the material. Measure the glue application amount regularly.

Lamination

· If the workshop temperature is below 15℃, the bonding material should ideally be preheated to above 15℃.

· Operate as quickly as possible, preferably within 1 minute of applying the adhesive and then rolling the lamination.

· In winter, it is recommended to open the drying tunnel to extend the open time and ensure the adhesive film temperature is above 30℃ before lamination.

Rolling

· The pressure should be applied evenly along the length of the roller at a pressure of 2-4 bar. After curing, the material can be stacked and transported immediately after production. It is recommended to cure for 24 hours before machining.

Curing

· After production, the products can be stacked and transported. It is recommended to allow them to cure for 24 hours before machining.

· If subsequent processes involve painting or exposure to high temperatures, please consult technical personnel regarding the curing time.

On-site Quality Control

· Appearance: Smooth surface, free from defects such as orange peel, bubbles, and particles;

· Adhesive Strength: No rebound after production; after cooling, the edges should not be pulled up; factory tensile strength and material breakage should be within acceptable limits.

 

Other Precautions

Cleaning

· At the end of each production day, clean the rubber rollers with a cleaning agent until the surface is dry.

Pressing

· To prevent bubbling and rebound in summer, composite boards can be placed in a cold press for several hours under extreme conditions.

Expired Products

· If the product is past its expiration date, first check for skin formation. If the appearance and viscosity do not change significantly after melting, it can be used normally.
